Ranger Liezel and her guests were treated to a fantastic lion sighting at sunset on a game drive at Lalibela Game Reserve. If this doesn’t say “King of the beasts”, we don’t know what will!
They may be known as the king, but they are the laziest of all cat species. Male lions spend 18 to 20 hours a day snoozing and tend to be nocturnal and become active in the cooler parts of the day. As the sun set, this male decided to treat our guests with a thrilling roar.
On a still night, a lion’s roar can be heard up to about 7 or 8km away. Lions roar to communicate between members of the same pride or coalition and to advertise territory.
Our guests definitely got a warm welcome!
